Rise Across Texas 2010

I noticed an insert in this month’s Texas Monthly magazine that was promoting the Rise Across Texas Challenge. Fifty cyclists will ride across Texas in fifteen days. The route stretches from the Sabine River, all the way to the west end of Texas, covering 800 miles. They will be riding to benefit the Rise Schools of Texas, with this year’s challenge funding “a capital campaign to build a permanent facility for the Rise School of Austin.” I can appreciate this because the ad agency I work for has helped The Rise School for years — I couldn’t think of a better cause.

According to the map on the insert, they will be starting in Orange, Texas — passing through Kountze, Willis, Brenham, Bastrop, Austin, Wimberley, Kerrville, Leakey, Brackettville, Langtry, Sanderson, Marathon and Marfa — ending in Presidio. This incredible journey, across one of this county’s largest and friendliest states, starts on March 6 and goes through March 20, 2010 – a very mild time of year for Texas.

If you want to take part in the ride or if you would like to donate, please go to their site at riseacrosstexas.org.
