Ride Gear: What Other People Carry When They Ride
A little over a year ago, I started a Flickr group called “Stuff I Carry When I Ride My Bike.” I also did a small post about what I carried as well.
The group was inspired by another flickr group called “The Items We Carry“, as well as image posts like this shot from Timbuk2 and an interesting article in the first issue of Bicycle Times magazine. I thought it would be nice to set something up on Flickr.
The group is set up for folks who want to show off the stuff they carry when they ride their bicycles – including the contents of messenger bags, back packs and panniers. I also opened it up for people to show what they carry on their racks.
Since then, other groups, like this one, have formed with a similar idea.
Well, in just over a year, my group has grown to over 80 members who have contributed over 300 shots. Even though there are lots of great shots, I’m just going to feature a small portion of them – this time focusing on the contents of carry-on bags.
Wow! No wonder most commuters are SLOW!

Nothing wrong with slow as long as you’re enjoying the ride (and you aren’t late).

Thanks, I see I’m a minimalist. Kind regards, Pete.

Interesting! The take-away point for me after looking at these shots is that everyone else is much more prepared than I. Thankfully, bicyclists are a friendly lot and willing to pull over and help, if needed, though so far I’ve not had an emergency maintenance situation. 🙂
