Bike Fixtation – Self-Service Bike Repair Kiosk
Since I’m already re-posting stuff from Urban Velo, I might as well share another really cool idea that I read about over there (also seen on the GOOD Magazine site). Bike Fixtation is a really cool idea from a couple of bike guys who wanted to give cyclists “self-service kiosks on an extended-hours basis…” where they “…can buy a tube or patch kit, pump up your tires for free, and make simple adjustments using supplied tools.”
I think this is a great idea. Even though I try to always be prepared when I ride my bike, you never know what’s going to happen or what you might forget. For instance, I was on a group ride that extended into the evening. Not thinking ahead, I didn’t bring any of my lights. Having a station nearby, stocked with lights, would have been perfect.
Let’s not forget that cool stand and tools to make on-the-spot repairs that much easier.
I guess something like this probably doesn’t make as much sense in the DFW area as it would in a more bike heavy city. It would be nice to see more of them popping up across the country.
