Well, as the summer season (I base my seasons by my kid’s school schedule) starts rolling to a close, I’m starting to taper off my commute a little bit. The biggest reason is time.
With a new, busier schedule (between home life and a heavier load at work), it’s getting harder and harder to fit in the extra time for the bike commute. I’ll still squeeze one in from time to time, just to keep myself from going through withdrawal. I am quite happy with my commute milage results so far, and I will share them soon.
My weekend cycling is starting to shift in focus as well. Since I’ve been in ‘commute’ mode, most of those rides over the summer have been very utility based – using the bike as a tool for transportation and less about recreation. However, this past weekend, I was able to join some neighbors on a relaxing tour around town. There was no purpose or destination, just a nice ride.
I also managed to pick up a passenger on one of my rides over the weekend (see pic). This little guy seemed to like my bike and managed to hold on for most of my ride. I hope he was able to find his way home.
