Way To Go Fort Worth

leave a comment »

The DFW Bike Friendly family grows even more. Following Oak Cliff, Richardson and Knox-Henderson, Fort Worth starts up their own non-sport, bike awareness group. Check out their Facebook page.

Kevin Buchanan, who runs the website FortWorthology did an awesome write-up of the ambitious new bicycle transportation plan, Bike Fort Worth.

The goal is to earn Fort Worth a nationally recognized, “Bicycle Friendly Community” designation from the League of American Bicyclists by 2015.

Go here to see Kevin’s great break-down of the plan.

Great Southwest Bike Swap

with 2 comments

I first heard about the 3rd Annual Great Southwest Bike Swap over at the BABBLE site. Tonight, I saw a post over at Biking In Dallas that reminded me to write about it. It will be held on February 7, between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm at the Tarrant County Resource Connection (Building 2300) in Fort Worth.

This will be (from their site:) A one day event where bicycle shops, frame builders and independent bike geeks can buy, sell, trade and show bicycle stuff.

The admission to the event is FREE.

If that’s not enough to bring you out to Fort Worth, maybe the raffle will: tickets will be on sale for $2.00 each or 3 for $5.00. Drawings will be held every half-hour for raffle prizes to those present, with a grand prize set of Mavic wheels to be drawn at the close of the show. Must be present to win raffle prizes.

I’ve never been to a bike swap, so I’m going to try and make it out to this one. You never know what you might find.
