Limited Time Pre-Order: Yehuda Moon and the Kickstand Cyclery – Volume 5

leave a comment »

As a big fan of the Yehuda Moon and the Kickstand Cyclery comic series, I am proud to announce the release of the fifth volume of their printed work. Right now, it’s only available through Kickstarter and only if they make their goal. They have less than two weeks to pull in enough money to get funded.

So, if you are a fan or if you already have volumes 1-4, please head over to their Kickstarter page and pledge. If you don’t have the first four issues, they are also offering them as holiday gift packs at a special price.

The 2012 Kickstand Cyclery Virtual Alleycat Race – January 30

leave a comment »

The folks at Yehuda Moon are doing their Virtual Alleycat Race again. I did this last year and it was a whole lot of fun! Be warned, it’ll kill a small portion of your day, so make sure your boss is in a meeting.

From their site:

Cyclelicious and the Kickstand Cyclery have teamed up for a winter race: The Kickstand Cyclery Virtual Alleycat. When the race begins on January 30th, you’ll race other participants from Internet checkpoint to checkpoint as you visit various bicycle websites. Prizes will be awarded for speed, agility, and creative comments left at each checkpoint.

Even if there weren’t prizes involved, it’s till a nice little tour of some great bike websites. Plus, it’s fun looking for clues that will lead you to the next checkpoint – even if you aren’t racing.

Kickstand On Kickstarter: Preorder The Remaining Three Volumes Of Yahuda Moon

with one comment

If you are a fan of Yahuda Moon and the Kickstand Cyclery comic, you’re probably aware that author Rick Smith called it quits. Keeping up the comic, a full-time job and a family just got too overwhelming. We’ll miss it, but wish Rick all the best.

Now, the Kickstand Cyclery has teamed up with Kickstarter to offer the remaining three volumes of Kickstand Comics as a preordered bundle. You’ll get three printed books, which include the last three years of the comic – 1,300 strips. Each bundle also comes with an embroidered badge and bookmark. If you don’t already own the first volume, you can order one here.

The folks over at Yehuda Moon, bicycle comic strip are now offering up a their daily strips for free syndication on your site. From their site:

Got a Bike Blog or Bike Site? Put ‘Yehuda Moon’ There.
Display the day’s ‘Yehuda Moon and the Kickstand Cyclery’ comic strip on your blog or website. You determine what size the comic should be, we take it from there – the comic updates automatically, the same way it does on yehudamoon.com… fresh content daily.

So, if you’re a fan of Yehuda, you can share their content on your site as well. I would love to add it here, but since I’m using the free WordPress service, that option is not available.

Help Support Yehuda Moon

with 2 comments

I started reading the Yehuda Moon, an online comic strip about biking, just about the same time I started this blog. Admittedly, I wasn’t too much into it. The characters and stories had already been established, so it was kinda like being the new guy trying to catch up with the local gossip. Nothing made sense, so it really wasn’t interesting to me.

Fortunately, there’s RSS and Google Reader. Just for kicks, I subscribed to the Kickstand Feed which eventually led me to start following along more consistently. Sure enough, everything started to fall into place. The story line and characters all started to become familiar.

The author, Rick Smith (along with co-writer, Brian Griggs), bring forth many relatable topics about the different aspects of cycling that any rider would find interesting. Now I’m a fan.

The strip is free to read, but they still need your support to keep it going. If you haven’t heard of them, go check them out. If you read their comic regularly, shoot them a few bucks – or better yet – subscribe. It’s only $3 a month.
